            The numbers following the given name refer to the generation, beginning with the immigrant Jacob (1) Janse Schermerhorn, but subsequently only for descendants of his youngest son Lucas (2) Jacobse Schermerhorn. Un-numbered individuals are likely descendants with similar spellings who followed the same routes to the PA/(W)VA/OH intersection with the Ohio River

            • 1787 6 Feb–Lucas(3) Jacobse Schermerhorn estate settled in Washington Co PA.

            • 1789 15 Feb– Luke(4) Schermerhorn sold his land in Washington Co PA.

            • 1790–No members of the Schermerhorn family are on the Washington Co PA federal census.

            • Mathias(4) Scamhorn/Swamehorn/Scaremyhorn on tax roll of Ohio Co WV until 1793.

            • 1791 11 Feb–2 miles below Buffalo Creek on the Ohio side was the site of the Francis Riley cabin, just above Riddle’s Run. Wellsburg was then being built.

            • 19 May John Schemmerhorn was the husband of Francis Riley’s daughter Ruth. Both John and infant dau. Claudia were killed by Indians and Ruth was abducted; her brother Moses escaped to Waxler’s Station, 5 miles south at the mouth of Short Creek (now Warrenton, Jefferson Co OH).

            • 1792–Daniel Scamahorn settled on Blockhouse Run, Jefferson Co OH but was killed by Indians in Spring 1793.

            • 1794–Sarah Jones (wife of Luke (4) Schermerhorn) and her parents were living in Harford Co MD.

            • 1795 15 Jun–Michael Waxler (Sr.) killed on the Ohio side of the river.
