EPHRAIM CABLE, The father of Ephraim Cable settled at the mouth of Island Creek in 1785, where Ephraim was born the same year, and until recently was noted as the first white child born in the county. The father built a blockhouse, where he lived and reared the elder children of a family of twelve. Ephraim Cable served in the War of 1812, and his name is connected with above Steubenville.
